Do you have FOMO?

FOMO -  Fear of Missing Out- the fear that you feel  you will miss out on something huge if you don't do something/participate in an event.

Do you ever feel like this? I just heard this the other day on TV, and I think I may have it. Whenever I hear about something new I just have to know about it and participate if I can. So here's what I have FOMO. Jorge's new book just came out. It's called the 100.  Basically you count "sugar" calories and don't go above 100 in a day. Now here's the catch. You have a list of freebie foods, but all other carb grams are converted to "sugar"

Now I  know this all may sound a little complicated, but basically  just don't have more than 25 gms of carbs in a day ( 25 X 4 = 100) and you'll be fine. Better than fine. You'll lose a ton of weight!! At least that's what he promises. It's really easy to do if you avoid grains, breads, legumes and such.

The 100: Count ONLY Sugar Calories and Lose Up to 18 Lbs. in 2 Weeks

What got me interested and excited was all the activity on facebook and some new groups that popped up. People are sharing and talking. This one woman Sandy basically posted all the info that was in the book, and I have to say, aside from the meal plans, it's really not worth buying. There aren't any recipes except the skinny muffin ( a similar version to our flaxseed muffin ), but the meal plans do give some good ideas of what to eat. I bought the kindle version, so it was only about ten dollars.

So aside from abstaining from wheat, I'm just going to try and follow this a bit. I am not at goal, nor even close yet and I just want to keep my head in the game so to speak. This just re energized me and got me thinking to what I really want to accomplish here. Keeping your goal in site is important. I will go out on a limb here and say that  some of you ( Rosalie I'm talking to you!!) are probably naturally keeping your carbs low even while following the original Belly Fat Cure, and therefore probably already in that low carb daily number. For some of us, ( I'm talking to me here!!) we have to be hit over the head with some new formula to jump start us again. Whatever it takes right?

On the home front, I was at the shore all last week, so this week was a busy one catching up. I think I may need a vacation from my vacation! Having lots of people around and all that goes with it ( cooking, cleaning, washing) can make one tired. But I did a lot of beach sitting and reading so that was good.

My son John leaves today for Washington. Tomorrow he and his friend Andrew will begin their climb up Mount Rainier. They started this quest to raise money for Charity Water and they have already raised enough money for one well currently being built in Bangladesh. It is called Beth's Well, in honor of my sister-in-law and John's aunt, who passed away suddenly a year ago at the age of 42. This is a great charity and 100% of all donations go directly to build the wells. They just started a new campaign (a campaign runs for 3 months.) to raise money for another well. Every little bit helps those around the world who don't have access to clean drinking water on a daily basis. Please consider donating. The link is below if you are interested in donating. Good luck John and Andrew. Stay safe and enjoy the views along the way!

Hope everyone is doing well. I have been reading and keeping up on all the blogs. I have been having trouble leaving comments if I'm on my phone or ipad. I write a comment and then it puts me into the goodle login screen, and then my comment gets lost. I get frustrated and don't feel like writing it again!!  Sending hugs and love! XO!!

  1. Great post Pattie ! I love your positive attitude & I believe you can do this. A little tweaking here and there with the carbs and you should be good to go.

What a wonderful thing your son & his friend are doing !! You must be so proud of them both.

    Have a great day :)

    1. Thanks Dot. Sorry to see your blog gone. It is a bit tricky and i find it always takes me awhile to write a post for some odd reason or another. The other day everything that I pasted on the blog turned out white and I had to change the background color to get it to show up right. Frustrating. Hope all is well.

  2. Yeah my hubby has FOMO on cars and electonics big time LOL
You are probably right that in most days my carbs are low already, but I will continue to eat the things that I love like bread once in a while, beans and stuff like that. Oh yeah - popcorn. He-he
I see all the support for his new book and that makes me happy that people are trying to be healthy.
WOW climbing a mountain - I wish him a fabulous and safe journey. Have a great weekend :-)

    1. I think when we stop looking to learn and grow, then we become stagnant and stuck in the same old rut. My basic beliefs are the same, low sugar and low carbs, but changing it up a bit does make me recommit and gives my motivation a boast. XO!

  4. FOMO describes me perfectly when it comes to 'healthy eating' (and always has) :) For years, I have picked the brains of those who live healthy life styles to see how they eat, exercise, etc. And.... you should see my bookshelf - yikes! I have to say, though, it's allowed me to customize what works best for my body so it's a good thing; gleaning a little here and a little there. ;)

I did pick up Jorge's new book because of the reviews (well and because of FOMO). At first I thought, I could never keep my carbs that low with the fruit that I eat, but then I realized the berries were on the lower side so I could make that work. I was happy to see that he recommends this program for a few weeks and then you can raise your "sugar carbs" allowance and still continue to lose and/or maintain. Let us know if you do it and what you think. I may watch my natural sugars a little more and try to follow his plan for the sugars and see if I can move out of this plateau.

I would love to donate to such a wonderful cause. Will definitely check it out and try to do it before we leave on vacation tomorrow. If not, I'll surely do it as soon as we get home.

I always love your posts Pattie - Thanks for sharing :)

    1. Thanks for the reply Kim. I think we are a lot alike in the FOMO part of life. I keep the same basic beliefs that I need to maintain low carb and low sugar, but sometimes a new perspective can jump start and motivate. I am intrigued by those doing his slim, happy belly. Two days of 100 sugar calories (25 carbs) and then 5 days of up to 500 sugar calories (about 125 carbs or similar to the original BFC). There are some good results and I think it makes sense to keep your body guessing alittle with the carbs.

Thanks for considering donating to http://my.charitywater.org/takeonthirstclimb. It is a great charity and I am glad to be a part of it. Dr. OZ has promoted it too. It is a bare bones operation and 100% of the donations go to build a well. I like that there aren't high administrative costs and advertising etc. I like my money to go directly to help the people. My son is on day 4, so he should reach the summit of Rainier tomorrow. I'm very proud of him and it is something good that he is trying to focus on in honor of my sister-in-law Beth. I don't think you were blogging back in January of 2012, but I wrote some very candid posts while she was in the hospital and then died a few days later. Such a sad, sad time for our family and my brother and their two kids. Seems like yesterday as we are all still missing her so much. Take care my friend. XO!
