Mount Rainier in Washington |
Good morning everyone! It’s
early here Monday morning at the shore. Just got everyone out the door to where
they need to be. I’ll do my regular post weekend ritual of stripping beds,
washing beach towels and putting the house back in order and then I'll head back home for the week. Next weekend we will repeat the process!
It was a testosterone
filled weekend with me and eight men. My two sons came and brought a few
friends each. If you want to see a fridge full of food disappear fast, invite seven
growing men between the ages of 23-25 to your shore house for the weekend.I tried to eat as well as I could. Lots of grilled chicken and salads. There was a few slips here and there, but for the most part I tried to maintain a healthy eating pattern.
My son John just
completed his climb of Mount Rainier on Wednesday and flew home from Washington
State on Thursday night. After climbing 14,400 feet with sixty pounds of gear
on his back over six days, he was ready for some real food that you didn't have
to prepare with water. I am so proud of him and he made the climb in memory of
my sister in law Beth who died suddenly last year at 42 year of age. He
recorded his name on a book that they keep in a box on the summit of the mountain.

This is no walk in the part, Some serious climbing going on. |
The group and their guides carried everything on their backs and set up camps along the way. |
I hope everyone is doing
well. Have a great week! Sending hugs and love.XO!
Thought for the day: Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain. An
occasional glance toward the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful
scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point. Climb slowly, steadily,
enjoying each passing moment; and the view from the summit will serve as a
fitting climax for the journey.” -Harold V. Melchert
