A Brand New Month!

Good morning everyone! It's July 1st, the start of a brand new month. I like fresh starts, fresh beginnings and clean slates.

Well any moment that you decide to change something you don't like is a fresh start. You can have one whenever you want, but today is even more special. It's Monday, the start of a new week and July 1, the start of a new month and a new quarter of the year.

For me, I'm going to get back to tracking what I eat and drink. I have been keeping mental track of this, but we all know that's not always accurate. If you haven't tried My Fitness Pal as an online tracking tool, check it out. I love it, and I have the app for my iPhone and iPad  I can scan the bar code for a food and it adds it right to my daily tracker. Using it daily is the key!!
I am at the beach this week. It's relaxing and wonderful down here, but it is harder to maintain good eating as there are always visitors, lots of meals out, lots of drinks and goodies everywhere. I've got the fridge stocked with all the stuff I like, and I'm continuing the wheat free life starting on week 7. Again, nothing against wheat, but it is helping me not to overindulge on those carbs.

Saturday we went into Atlantic City. I'm not a gambler, but it's always fun once in awhile to  head to the casinos for a little fun. Lots of activity, lights and action, and sand!!
The World Championship of Sand Sculpting - 1st place!

The casino floor. Note the dancers above the gambling tables!

View from the Casino.

I have one last thing to share. For those of you who are into coconut oil as  I am, I found this great cooking spray at Trader Joe's.
Coconut oil is a great addition to your diet. I am now using it as a body moisturizer because I am concerned about all the chemicals in the products that I used to use. Skin is our largest organ and the chemicals we put on it get absorbed and  put into our body.

Have a great day and wipe your slate clean. Fresh starts for everyone who needs it today!! Sending love and hugs! XO!

Thought for the day: Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday.      John Wayne

  1. Kudos to you Pattie for staying wheat free for 6 weeks.

Wow, those sand sculptures are fantastic.

I just saw the coconut oil spray in one of Jorge's videos. We don't have a TJs nearby so hopefully I can find it in a local store.

    How's your knee?

  2. I recently bought a jar of coconut oil at Sam's Club and planned to use it as a moisturizer, too. (Hey! I bet that spray is pretty convenient to moisturize with - just kidding!) Additionally, I've parted with a couple of perfumes and am reducing the use of my last favorite (Revlon's Charlie - I know, I know...) and was going to research on what oil would be easiest to use for mixing with an essential oil and use that as my perfume.

  3. The pictures look great. Have fun and stay strong and don't let the food bullies win.
I have been using coconut and Olive oil spray for a very long time now and love them both.
I know a lot of you like MyFitnessPal - but that's not for me. Too much work maybe? I guess I have been eating healthy so long now - its all in my head.
    Have a great day :-)

  4. It is a new month, a new week, and potentially a new start! I am so proud of you for 7 weeks wheat free? Wow! What are you eating? I can't even imagine, truthfully!
Being at the beach would be pure heaven to me and my hubby. Enjoy your time, Summer's short around here, I'm assuming around there too.
    Hugs and good wishes!!!
I did find a use for my coconut oil on pinterest. It showed putting it on water marks on oak and I did it along my stairs. It's a miracle I tell you!!! It still looks perfect a week later. I don't really like the smell so I can't imagine using it for moisturizer. I am an Amber Romance Victoria Secret girl so I will keep my lotion:) You are doing so many things for you and your health! You go girl!!!!

  5. Do you read the blog "Can you stay for dinner?" Andy has put her Mom on a diet and it looks like things that you would love. It is definitely calorie based, but I think it makes sense. Let me know if you can't find the site!

    1. Kay, I used to read that blog all the time, but then I stopped around the time she got back from her trip. I just read the post about her mom and her diet, and I'm going to subscribe by email again. Thanks.

  6. I love the idea of a new week, a new month, a new season, a new start. Great job on the wheat free for 7 weeks - wow! Isn't it funny how easy it is to make the substitutions, though? It's really easy for me to overindulge, any way I am eating, because I'm so good at 'making it fit.' Have a great month!

  7. Hello my beautiful friend!!! What a great post!! I had that mentality on July 1st too and quickly fell off the wagon. :( cant seem to get my head back in the game and been feeling a bit blue lately too on top of things so that makes it doubly hard.
I am jealous of your beach!! So beautiful!!! Have a great time and do your best every day....life is too short....enjoy every moment!
    xoxo
