Yes to Cookies - product review

Good Sunday morning everyone. Just wanted to do a product review on a sugar free cookie that I recently ordered off Netrition.com. If you have never ordered from this site, and have trouble getting some of the Belly Fat Cure friendly products in your supermarket, this is a good site to check out. They ship for a flat rate of $4.99 and they have so many things on the site. I recently tried these cookies in the Old Fashioned Ginger Spice flavor. They are made with erythritol and some stevia. They have 6 gms of fiber in one cookie and 10gms of carbs, but as Rosalie pointed out, you have to count the sugar alcohols as carbs, so the carb count for one is 0/14. I listed the nutritional information from the back of the package below, and also the product description from the web site. On the netrition web site, they list all the nutritional information for the products, so you really know what you are buying.
I did not warm these cookies in the microwave as they suggested. I tried them straight from the package. I have to say I had a lot of hope that I would like these. They are large in size and a soft texture, not crunchy at all.  There is alittle bit of frosting drizzled over the top. I thought they would be perfect with a cup of hot tea.

The reason I won't buy them again, is the very strong, slightly bitter aftertaste. I think this is from the stevia. They taste good as you eat them,  but the unpleasant aftertaste negates that, and leaves your mouth tasting funny. My husband tried them too and had the same impressions. We finally tossed the package because it just wasn't something we were enjoying at all. They come in two other flavors, coca, and strawberry banana. If anyone else has tried them, I'd be curious to hear your impressions.
Two thumbs down for this product.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. It is a sunny, beautiful day here in PA!

PS : beauty product review update -  day 2 and that do it yourself gel polish I talked about in the last post is chipping off the tips!

  1. I saw so many things on the netrition site that looked good and BFC friendly. I'm sorry that these didn't work out. I was looking at the S/C count on some regular gingersnaps (I love them because the flavor is intense and you don't need as many) and it wasn't that bad. My personal opinion is that we get 5/2 a meal, we may as well use it. I know that I found myself being proud if I barely had any sugars all day. I think he allows us the 15 to satiate our need.
I made a flourless chocolate cake with Truvia last night. It was a microwave cake in a 2 cup measuring cup. It was way too chocolatey for me, but I see so much potential and the ingredients were things that I have in the cupboard. I have it pinned on my pinterest if you want to take a peak.
I actually got a response from Lisa the low carb diner gal on my blog. I was so excited:) She pointed out that the brands of coconut bread do vary the taste of the bread.
In response to your personal question...I am very HAPPY...everything worked out for the best. Marv is definitely employed through March and we can get some more Hotel points for travel:) As most people think of retiring or restarting a career, health insurance is a house payment!
    Thank you for asking:)
We are on this journey together and I am so glad that we can share ideas and opinions! If Marv and I ever set out on our "road trip" we may just have to stop by!

  2. HI Pattie, That's too bad about the cookies. I know we are always trying to find things that are BFC friendly to eat. Those cookies would actually be 14 grams of carbs each. We have to count the sugar alcholols as carbs.
    Bummer about the polish :-(
    Have a great day :-)

  3. Good morning Pattie! Gee, I thought this was gonna be a good review...how sad that the cookies "fell flat" in taste. I hate it when you spend alot of money on things like this & then they taste awful. So disappointing & Im sorry you had to toss the pkg.
I want to try the noodles that Rosalie talks about but am leary to as I heard that they are stinky smelling and knowing me, I wouldnt be able to get past the smell to eat them.
Hope you are doing well! Have a great weekend!

  4. I had no idea that we were supposed to add the sugar alcohol totals to the carb totals. UhOH! I haven't been doing that. I don't eat too many sugar alcohols, but I guess I'd better start looking. Hope you're having a great weekend :)

  5. Hey-we never know until we try it! Thanks for the heads up on the cookies.
...I already bought the nail product, so we'll see if mine peels too!
    Happy Thanksgiving

  6. I have these cookies too and was going to write up a review! I thought they were good, but I cannot stomach the sugar alcohols. They are much larger cookies than the Josephs.

Anon and Rosalie - you dont add sugar alcohols to the Carbs, they are already included within the carb count.

  7. That's too bad that they didn't taste good. Ginger spice would have been perfect this time of year. I really like the Netrition site. Thanks for steering me there for the Nature's Hollow products! I really like when people put up product reviews because then you get an honest opinion of what the product is actually like!

  9. Hey Pattie! I'm not sure if you'll check back my blog, but you can totally use only stevia in the cranberries. I'm making a batch today with only stevia.

  10. Hey Pattie thanks for sharing the cookie review. I think it is almost better to make your own. The joseph's are pretty good but I find them a little dry for my liking. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
