You've always had the power!

I'm back from a wonderful 8 days in the Caribbean. I drank too much, and ate to much, but I didn't gain a pound which is a first for me. I tried to stay on my eating plan and avoided carbs and wheat. I just recently read that many people with thyroid problems do better when they avoid wheat, so for  now I am sticking with that. I enjoyed fish tacos without the tortilla, hamburgers without the bun, and even brought my own almond bread to breakfast. I had to have conch fritters, fingers and cracked conch, so I did get some carbs and bread there, but for the most part I managed very well.

As a long time follower of the Belly Fat Cure, I am finding that for me Jorge's newest plan, The 100 makes more sense. On this plan I can't overdo even the good carbs like I used to do on the BFC. All of Jorges' plans, The Belly Fat Cure, The 100, and his newest that is coming out soon, Slim Belly, Happy Hormones, are all based on the fact that we need to reduce sugar and carbs and therefore control our insulin levels which cause our body to store fat. Some people get confused about the different plans, and I did initially as well. But now that I'm familiar with them, I see how there is a need for these different plans to suit the needs of all the people trying to lose weight. Basically they are the same in theory, just different in the way you count and keeping track.

There are some great facebook groups for all of these plans. Ask to join and they will approve you. I wrote a post the other day and got a really great response. I'd like to share it with you.

This may be obvious to some, but I had a "light bulb, ahh ha" moment yesterday. I was thinking how many of us get frustrated if we aren't losing, how we weigh ourselves everyday and expect big changes in a day or two, and how we focus so much on getting to our goal weight. Maybe subconsciously we think when that happens we can cheat a little more and not follow our plan as closely. When in reality if we have committed to changing the way we eat, and are going to eat this way forever, then that is just the way it is going to be forever. Noting magical is going to happen to our way of eating when we lose faster or when we reach our goal. We will still have to eat this way forever to keep the weight off. So if we are following a plan we believe in, are feeling better, sleeping better, moving easier, then we should just relax and not worry so much about what the scale says. It will move eventually and we will reach our goals. The benefits will be great, but we will still be eating the same if we want to stay at that goal. This is a lifestyle, not a short term fix.

Whatever plan you are following to stay healthy, realize you have to follow this for the rest of your life. Don't pick a plan for weight loss. pick a new lifestyle that you knowyou can live with forever. The rest is a piece of cake!!

This so true! We got this!We got this!We got this!Yes~it will!!!

Thought for the day:  "You've always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself."

  2. The quote from the person online was awesome. I think it is important to trust ourselves a little bit more than we tend to, in this regard. If you know you are eating healthy, then really what does it matter if you weigh a bit differently than you think you ought to? I'm trying to look at the way my body looks and feels more than just looking at the number on the scale these days. I'm a little plumper than I as before, so I know I need to pay closer attention to my activity level if I want to keep eating the rich foods I have been. I am glad you enjoyed your vacation!

  3. Great post and wise wisdom! The only worry I have with people on the 100 plan is that they are eating tons of calories in the treats that they are making. I like the one gal that consistently tells new people and people that can't lose weight, that she doesn't eat those things or she won't lose. There does have to be common sense there! But obviously I don't have all the answers or I would be at the weight that I want to be.
I have been really good for 2 days! Woot!
I'm glad you had a wonderful vacation, it looked just gorgeous! It's very impressive that you stayed so close to plan. My sandwich thin would take me over the 100 every day, and I don't even like them:(
And it's been a long day and my thoughts are everywhere....sorry!

    1. Kay, actually if the treats are free on the 100, then they are also free on the original BFC too because these are things with no sugar or carbs. I ad to stop making the brownies because I couldn't stop at one. When I reach my goal, I might bring some of that stuff. Rosalie is always so good about having one a day, but I can't always do that. Hope you are having another good day!!!

  4. Great post, Pattie! I dropped out of the fb groups because I'm following more of a paleo diet AND there were just too many posts to keep up with. I agree that if you eat too many of the desserts, you won't lose. This is true of Paleo. I see books on desserts and using honey (large amounts) and think that can't be good for glucose /insulin levels. I'm still watching my sugars, but I did have half an apple last night before bed to help my glucose stores. I really think that hypoglycemia, caused by adrenal fatigue, is activating my sympathetic nervous system (releasing adrenaline) and causing me to be wide awake in the middle of the night. The tiny bit of honey and celtic sea salt that I taste when I wakeup calms it down and I have been falling back to sleep.....yay! Anyhow, congrats on not gaining during vacation.....that's awesome!

    1. Glad to hear you are sleeping better. I have had a terrible past few nights. I wake between 3 and 4 and can't get back to sleep. I may try that honey and salt tip tonight because it's starting to make me crazy lying there awake. I know what you mean about the FB posts. There are a lot of them. I hope you are feeling better! XO!

  7. Hi Pattie! Just found you!

I have been very successful doing the 'primal' diet (which is also pretty much the Wheat Belly diet), so we seem to have a lot in common. Welcome back from your vacation, and hope you are doing well!
