Oh My!!!

Oh My! I can't believe how long it's been since I sat down and wrote a blog post. You all must think I was swept away in the floods of Hurricane Sandy! I'm struggling a bit over this way, and one of  my cardinal rules of this journey of weight loss and better health, was to never let too many days go by without keeping in touch.  Sure I've been reading your blog posts. But usually it's late at night and on my ipad, while in that drowsy state before sleep finally takes over.  I need to be more interactive. Keeping  in touch with all of you is what keeps me focused. It's the foundation I need to keep myself eating the way I know works for me.

It's December 1 today, and with a new month comes the renewed commitment to get myself back on track. I have strayed alittle here and there and I'm still up 8 lbs from my pre wedding weight. I'm in dangerous territory right now with the holidays looming ahead. Now more than ever we all need each other for support, encouragment and motivation.

So here's what's been going on. I am pretty much decorated for the holidays. Four trees up, indoor decorations done outdoors done,  mostly by my husband and boys. Thanksgiving was a big family dinner for 24 at my sister-in-laws. We made it through Beth's birthday and Thanksgiving. Now the holidays will be be next. The kids are making their lists and although there is this cloud of sadness that their mother is gone, I think they still are handling things remarkable well. I still go up to their house two afternoons a week and my mom handles the other three. My brother seems to be doing as well as he can, but I see the sadness in his eyes. It's hard to believe January 6 will be one year since Beth died.

I recently made a few Jay Robb protein shakes. This one I made was the vanilla flavor. I added some cinnamon and a bunch of kale. Aside from being green, you would never notice the kale. It was very filling and tasty too!

So, I commit to getting back on track, logging what I eat in myfitnesspal.com and keeping in touch with all of you, my dear cyber friends. Sending hugs and love, and some photos of my holiday decorating!!

Thought for the day:

How did it get so late so soon?
It's night before it's afternoon.
December is here before it's June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?

  3. Your house looks lovely! I really enjoy the pictures. My twitter name is kayzfam13, I am a little....maybe a lot....political, so if that doesn't bug you, find me and I will follow you too:) I have had a lot of fun with it so far. I am still wrapping my head around the election:(
You are still hanging in there Pattie! With all that has gone on this past year, being up 8 lbs is not a huge deal. My suggestion would just try and get a grip now before the Holiday really takes off. Blog more, take time to care for yourself, and take baby steps. Every little bite counts. Figure out your top 10 things that you don't want to give up and find a way to work them in. That's what I love about BFC, "all things are possible"!

  5. Holy cracker! That's some decorating. I'm not so ambitious when it comes to holiday decorating. I'm hosting extended family Christmas this year on the 15th (cant' believe it's only two weeks away). Your house looks lovely! Love my protein shakes. I found a recipe for a pumpkin pie version that is SO good. http://healthylivinghowto.com/1/post/2012/11/pumpkinpieproteinshake.html

  6. The house looks beautiful! Like Kay said, 8lbs isn't bad for the year you've had! Thinking about you and your family during this difficult anniversary. I know you will get back on track with the BFC bdfore the end of the yr.

PS-Will you come decorate my house? Between the time, the energy and the $$$ it takes to decorate, I'm a bit Scrooge like.

  7. Oh my... you inspire me to get decorating! Your home looks B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!

I am up a little on my weight as well, although it honestly could be worse, I guess. What seems to keep me in check is reading all these wonderful blogs. I am trying really hard to not let anymore weight creep on between now and the end of the year. Haven't gotten my act together to actually post but do read all the blogs :)

Thanks for posting and for updating everyone - I always hear the first year after someone passes away is so hard - what a blessing that you can be there for your brother and his children - I'm sure your sister-in-law would give you great big hugs and kisses for that!!!
